The Alexander Hamilton Institute for the Study of Western Civilization (AHI) will offer, as its next free continuing education course, “Background to the 2016 Election, Part II: The Process and Strategies of Presidential Elections,” beginning September 12. The class will meet Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 through December 12 at the AHI, 21 W. Park Row in Clinton. Advance sign-up is encouraged due to limited space. This is a sequel to our course last spring on the roots of America’s “red/blue” political divide, but it can equally well be taken on its own. About one-third of the course will specifically cover this year’s election. Each session will have a balance between lecture and discussion. About 25 pages per week from a variety of sources will be assigned. Professional credit is available for teachers.
Instructor David Frisk, a Resident Fellow at the AHI since 2013, has previously taught its popular continuing education classes on the Constitution in the 20th century and today, the media and politics, modern statesmanship, conservative political philosophy, and recent socioeconomic trends. A former award-winning journalist, he holds a Ph.D. in political science from Claremont Graduate University and is the author of the widely acclaimed biography If Not Us, Who? William Rusher, National Review, and the Conservative Movement (ISI Books, 2012).
