Robin DiAngelo has made a high-end living as a racial capitalist. This “affiliate associate professor of education” at the University of Washington, a white woman, charges $30,000 and $40,000 a pop for lectures reminding others of her complexion how ineradicably racist they are.  In “Debunking the Debunker” in the April 4th issue of Minding the Campus, Alexander Riley, Senior Fellow, The Alexander Hamilton Institute for the Study of Western Civilization (AHI), exposes her “scholarship” as ideological gibberish.

Dr. Riley, Professor of Sociology at Bucknell University, explodes four myths that are first principles in DiAngelo’s work.  The first is that you must acknowledge the reality of “Woke people with extravagant and frequently fictional grievance claims unrelated to their actual lives.” Second, race informs every issue, whether of import or not.  Third, race trumps class as an explanator of most everything we do.  Fourth, the secret of eradicating racism is acknowledging that everything we do is predicated on race. Huh?

DiAngelo’s ideology, as all ideologies do, insulates itself from criticism.  Even the hint of criticism can be dismissed as racist.  Riley concludes, “The fact that elite educational and media circles are trying to foist this breathtaking, malevolent stupidity on the rest of us reflects how poorly they think of us.”  Higher education, as it now operates in its diversity, equity, and inclusion incarnation, cannot but succeed in dumbing us down.
