The Alexander Hamilton Institute for the Study of Western Civilization (AHI) congratulates Kraig Kayser on his appointment to the board of directors of Seneca Foods Corporation.  Mr. Kayser, also a member of AHI’s board of directors, will sit on Seneca’s Foods’ nine-person board as “non-executive Chairman.”  He fills a vacancy that resulted from the passing of the Company’s Founder and Chairman, Arthur S. Wolcott. Mr. Kayser had previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Seneca Foods from 1993 to 2020 and from 1991 to 1993 as its chief financial officer.

Seneca Foods is one of North America’s leading providers of packaged fruits and vegetables. The company has facilities located throughout the United States.  In the second quarter of 2021 the company reported net sales earnings of almost 400 million dollars.

Mr. Kayser earned a B.A. from Hamilton College in 1982, majoring in economics, and an M.B.A. two years later from Cornell University.  He now serves on the board of trustees of Cornell University.  While a member of The Rochester Institute of Technology’s board of trustees, he played a crucial role in supporting the initiative that led to the creation on campus of an AHI affiliate, the Center for Statesmanship, Law, and Liberty, directed by AHI Senior Fellow Joseph Fornieri.

“Kraig Kayser combines business acumen with erudition,” observed AHI President Robert Paquette.  He joined our merry band early on because he shared our concerns about the declining course of higher education in this country and wanted to enter the arena to do something about it.  Kraig is a true patriot with interests in economics, history, law, and politics. Since joining AHI’s board, he has not only been a generous donor, but a dear friend to me as well as a ready source of counsel to our organization.  Seneca Foods has elevated to its board a man of obvious ability and rare integrity.”
