The Alexander Hamilton Institute for the Study of Western Civilization (AHI) prides itself on being part of an ever-growing network of organizations that seeks to provide undergraduate students with opportunities to enhance their knowledge and understanding of American ideals and institutions and of the larger traditions of Western culture in which they were embedded. To that end the AHI partners annually with kindred-spirit organizations to sponsor the Annual Undergraduate Conference in the American Polity.
The conference brings together from across the country outstanding undergraduate scholars who present work in such fields as economics, political science, history, religion, philosophy, and sociology. Professors receive copies of the work beforehand and sit as commentators on the panels. In previous years such elite institutions as Princeton University, Georgetown University, Colgate University, and Skidmore College have hosted the undergraduate conference. AHI alums such as Thomas Cheeseman, Michael Adamo, Marta Johnson, Steven Pet, Noah Bishop, and Max Schnidman have distinguished themselves in conferences past. A prominent scholar is invited both to provide a keynote address and to lead a group discussion of a prescribed reading at the end of the conference.
