The Alexander Hamilton Institute for the Study of Western Civilization (AHI) will co-sponsor a book discussion on free speech with Kimberley Strassel, Editorial Board Member of the Wall Street Journal, on Wednesday, January 25 at 6:00 p.m. at the Chapel on the Hamilton College campus. The event is being co-sponsored along with the Hamilton College Republican Club and the Manhattan Institute and is free of charge.

In The Intimidation Game: How the Left Is Silencing Free Speech (2016), Ms. Strassel masterfully chronicles an Orwellian campaign on the left in an attempt to silence conservatives and other right-of-center speakers in the name of fairness and social justice.  Her examination of the abuse of power and assault on the First Amendment ranges widely from the campus to businesses, and to this country’s institutions of governance.  She investigates the Supreme Court case Citizens United (2010) and the IRS targeting scandal involving Lois Lerner (2013). Syndicated columnist George Will calls the book “a fire bell in a darkening night.”

Kimberley Strassel is a member of the Wall Street Journal editorial board and is its Potomac Watch columnist. A 2014 Bradley Prize winner, she holds a B.A. from Princeton University.  The AHI, located at 21 West Park Row, Clinton, will host a reception and book–signing after the presentation.
